Living in Los Angeles where you can find food from virtually around the world and visiting Italy two times this place is really awesome. How can you beat homemade pasta, pizza, bruschetta, and tiramisu? it's much more than just the pizza. The service was very attentive and they asked how each course was. Plates were cleared as we finished without cluttering the table.

The family came here off the yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. We started with the traditional bruschetta and prosciutto bruschetta. They also served bread that was served with a Chimichurri olive oil dipping sauce. The family ordered 2. It disappeared.

We ordered the margherita pizza as an appetizer to share. It's a large pizza that can easily be shared by 2 people. It was similar to the pizza my wife and I had back in Sorrento Italy from the pizza oven! Gone in 5 minutes. We were hungry. Not even the crust was left. We ate everything. You know it's good when the crust gets eaten too.

The main entrees were the lobster ravioli and it didn't disappoint.. filled with fresh lobster in a pink sauce. My wife ordered the shrimp with homemade fettuccine in light red sauce. I ordered the shrimp and mushroom fettuccine. We couldn't finish dinner so we got it to take back.

The closer was the tiramisu. Made from scratch. It wasn't made with traditional "lady fingers" a type of sponge cake. It was a homemade sponge layer cake. It wasn't drenched in the coffee liquor making it soggy. We all sampled it.

La Familgia is definitely a place to visit when you are here in Playa Del Carmen!! Walk one block over from busy 5th Ave to Calle 10 N and Ave 10 N on the corner. All the locals should come here to get a "Taste of Italy".

We will be back next time we visit playa.

Great little Italian spot slightly off the tourist path that serves up great fresh pastas. It was a bit pricey compared to some other options on the island, at around $20 usd for pasta and a glass of white wine. They serve you fresh focaccia and bread along with a chimmichurri oil dip as a starter. I ordered the fettuccine pasta with Alfredo sauce and prosciutto. It was a bit heavy for the hot weather, but the pasta was perfectly al dente and fresh, so no regrets! The Alfredo was good  and they included an abundance of prosciutto in the dish. They serve the dish with more Parmesan on the side (unnecessary because it's so decadent already!) but it didn't seem fresh (Kraft Parmesan style) so I didn't use it.

The service was excellent - my waitress was very attentive during my meal as well as when I needed the check.

The only downside was a lack of AC
Downstairs. They have one unit and a fan, but it was quite hot during my visit.

La Famiglia was super warm and welcoming... felt like home! The owner was hospitable and greeted us right away.

We didn't expect such great food hidden within the side streets of Playa Del Carmen but we found a good one.

You get complimentary variety of bread for the table paired with tasty olive oil.

    Fettuccine Alfredo:
Was to die for! We didn't expect such exquisite flavor here as we had one a few days ago that was the complete opposite. We were blown away and this was the favorite. Chicken or shrimp both great.

    Pizzas:
Now they say could feed just one person but this is great to share with 2 or even 3 people. It's pretty thin but has a nice aired crust. These were ok!

3 Combo: Beef Ravioli, Lasagna, Gnocchi. We loved the Gnocchi and Ravioli. We didn't care for the Lasagna, think it was just too much ground meat. Gnocchi just melted in your mouth, sooooper creamy, maybe a bit much. I wish I requested the Fettuccine instead of the Ravioli or Lasagna! Note for next time.

Would I come back? Yes for the Fettucine.

I visited this place two nights ago. It's so cute and our group of 6 was easily accommodated. We all ordered something different and tried each other's meals. All of the food was amazing! We have a picky group and everyone loved their food. Service was great as well and prices aren't bad at all for the quality of food. I ordered the special and only complaint was that the server didn't give the price of the special as it was significantly more expensive. However it was so delicious that I didn't even mind the price. I definitely recommend if you're close to Playa del Carmen!
